GOALS is an organization that was founded in 1986 by a group of EOP (low-income, first-generation college) and underrepresented graduates from the University of California, Berkeley, who were concerned for the academic success, retention rates and graduation status of EOP and underrepresented students.   GOALS was established to:

Strengthen communication and networking with targeted University programs, and EOP and underrepresented alumni.

Provide financial support to
underrepresented students.

Assist the University in its efforts to increase targeted student enrollment, retention and persistence to graduation.

The founding members of GOALS believe that every effort should be made to encourage students to take advantage of graduate and professional schools and career opportunities.
